About Diane

My name is Diane, and is my site. It's designed like a blog, but it's not really a blog in the traditional sense. It's just a place I randomly place things on the web. I have a love for images and words and creative ways to share my life. I turn 40 this year and I couldn't be happier about it. Getting older and getting wiser is a blessing. My spirit is young and energetic and keeps me going.

I work as a web programmer at a private liberal arts college for women in Raleigh, North Carolina where I tinker with HTML, PHP, mySQL and the web server in general. I grew up in nearby Durham and have lived in this state my entire life. I say "y'all" and "dang" on occasion, and my in-laws make fun of the way I say "wine" and "fine" and other words (they're from New York). I guess I'm cursed with a southern accent, even though I try hard not to sound like an idiot.

I am married to a lovable geek named Jonathan who has long, blonde hair and makes me giggle quite often. It's a second marriage for both of us, and we believe we got it right the second time around. Jon and I live with my 16-year-old daughter, Casey, and on occasion see my 23-year-old son, Travis, who lives across town.

I am a lover of Apple hardware, Tori Amos, my DVR and traveling, though I don't indulge enough in any of those. Jon and I have four cats - two of which are psychotic (his) and the other two which are lovable and quite normal as far as cats go (mine). I take way too many pictures of my cat, Raz.

I probably have too many techy toys, but I forgive myself and blame it on my profession.

About This Site

To develop this site, I use Movable Type along with a couple of MT plug-ins to do some other stuff I need the application to do. It's a great system, and I've been tinkering with it for several years now. This site uses Apache, mySQL and PHP on the backend and is hosted on pair Networks, a company I have been with since 1996. Check them out!

Elsewhere . . .

flickr photos - My photostream at flickr. I love flickr (almost as much as I love Google)!

twitter - Want to know what I'm doing? Here's where you find out. I consider using twitter to be like posting micro-blog posts. - I love pair Networks and have been with them since 1996. The vanity domain I have on their servers is just a great place for me to play and do weird web things, most of which isn't even linked. pair also hosts this website. Mind you, it needs updating, but I'm sure I'll get around to that soon. I told you I procrastinate!
